Gosaikunda Lake Trekking

Gosaikunda Lake Trekking is very sacred religious hindu pilgrimage trekking area in Langtang region. This trek can start from Dunche or Melamchi gaun after driving from Kathmandu by bus.We can do this trek combinely with Langtang Valley too.During the trail,we walk through pine, oak and rhododendron dense forests. In Spring season, we can get blooming flowers and trekkers will fee like in paradise. Once in a year, there will be a festival of Bonpos(Bonism or samonism). This is ancient religion of Tibet.This trek offers us so many beautiful,local and typical villages, spectacular mountain views, monasteries(Gompa) stupas(chhortens) etc. After Gosaikunda Lake, we can cross the Laurebinayak pass 4700m or descend to Dhunche as our choice.We offer you following itinerary for Gosaikunda Lake trekking.

TRIP DETAILS GOSAIKUNDA LAKE TREKKING

Trekking Title: Gosaikunda Lake Trekking

Maximum Elevation:4310m.

Walking Level: 5-7 hours per day.

Trekking Duration: 12 Days

Mode of Operation: Tea House Lodge Trekking.

Best Season: Mar, Apr, May & Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec.

Trip Grade: Moderate

Group size: Minimum: 2 people to Maximum: 18 people


Itinerary [12 days] Gosaikunda Lake Trekking

Day 01 Arrival
Your arrival to Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), you will be met by our Airport Representative, and transfer to hotel

Day 02 Sightseeing in Kathmandu 
Sightseeing indifferent place of Kathmandu such as Kathmandu durbar square, Patan durbar square Bhaktapur durbar square 

Day 03: Kathmandu-Dhunche (2040m)
Drive to Trisuli bazaar and continue on to Dhunche after lunch. We will set up camp at Dhunche. The journey from Kathmandu to Dhunche will take about 8 hours. Should the road condition not be good, then we will drive to Ramche and then proceed to walk to Dhunche (2040m). Overnight at tea house.

Day 04: Dhunche-Syabrugaun (2230m)
We begin by walking through cultivated area and descending the forested area and descending the forested area down to the Trisuli river as it drains out from the Gosainkund lakes. we cross the suspension bridge and climb steeply along a stream . Later we climb the mountainside and emerge atop a ridge. We take a narrow path skirting around a ridge followed by cultivated fields to start climbing at a steady pace. We cross leveled land and a forested patch and follow the mountain path to the end of a ridge which gives a view of Syabru (2230m) and the Langtang river. Walking time is about 6 hours today.

Day 05: Syabru-Ghore Tabela (3010m)
We descend down the ridge past fields, houses and through a forest to Chopche stream. We cross a bridge and start along a mountain path leading to a ridge snout. From here we descend a steep forested slope to the Langtang river. We cross a bridge and head up through a winding path. We then enter a forest on a gentle ascent to gradually gain altitude. We pass Gumma and climb a steep hill to come to Ghore Tabela (3010m) set in a wide valley. Walking time is about 6 hours today.

Day 06: Ghore Tabela-Kyanjin Gompa (3840m)
Cut across fields and cross a steep hill. Here the forest line ends. We follow a gentle path leading to alpine meadows. Ascends up the meadows to enter the village of Langtang. We pass through the stone-built village and climb to a Chorten and past a huge mani along a gentle path along a hill. The valley transfers to a U-shaped one (glacial valley) as we enter a level river-bed. Kimshun (6745m) and Tsenji (6543m) Himal become visible. After crossing a lateral moraine we arrive at Kyanjin Gompa (3840m). Walking time is about 5 hours today.

Day 07: Kyanjin Gompa-Langsisa Kharka(4175m)
We enter a wide rolling alluvial delta and cross a stream to arrive at a airstrip. From here Langtang Lirung can be seen clearly. We follow the stream and climb the terraced hills to arrive at Jatang. After Jatang we descend to a dry river-bed only to climb up-hill once again. From here the lateral Shalbachum glacier is visible. We cut across a meadow and climb the moraine for a grandstand view of the surrounding mountains such as Langsisa Kharaka (4175m approx.).
Spend the afternoon relaxing here. Walking time is about 4 hours today.

Day 08: Langsisa Kharka-Langtang Village
Return journey to Dhunche, traveling upto Langtang village for the night. Walking time is about 6 hours today.

Day 09: Langtang Village -Lama Hotel
Walking time is about 5 hours today before camp.

Day 10: Lama Hotel-Syabru-Shin Gompa
From Lama hotel to Syabru is about three and a half hours walk. From here we take the broad path climbing up to Dimsa village and through a rhododendron forest path to Shin Gompa (3300m).
Total walking time is about 6 hours to camp.

Day 11: Shin Gompa-Gosainkunda Lake (4310m)
We climb gently through rhododendron covered mountainside to the top of the ridge and through a forested area. We return to the ridge path and climb a wider route to arrive at a ‘Kharka’. (alpine meadow used for summer grazing). We continue along the wide path which soon turns rocky. We weave our way along the right flank as we approach the Trisuli river. Now the mountain slope eases and the first lake appears. At the second lake we climb a little and the third lake sees us at Gosainkund (4310m). We have the balance of the day to relax in the vicinity of the lake. Total walking time is about 5 hours.

DAY 12 Gosaikund - Sin Gompa
Return by same path and it is easy because you familiar rote and climate. 

DAY 13 Sin Gompa - Dhunche. 
Descent through rhododendron forests and giant fire trees. We cross the Trisuli on a suspension bridge and follow the river along the south bank through fields.

DAY 14 Dhunche - Katmandu by bus.

Day 15: Free on your own, depart Kathmandu

• All airport/Hotel transfers service by private car or tourist mini bus according to group size.
• 2 star level Hotel in Kathmandu at Thamel touristic city with breakfast except lunch and dinner.
• Welcome drinks will be served at hotel after arrival then trip briefing will be given by our company responsible.
• All lodging or camping and hygienic food with hot drinks during the trekking.
• Salary, insurance, trekking equipment, flight tickets, bus tickets, food and lodging for all staffs.
• Tourist bus or domestic flights and airport taxes as mentioned in above itinerary.
• An experienced & professional English or French speaking trekking guide or Mountain guide according to your demand, assistant trekking guides, chef cook, assistant cooks for camping trekking only and porters to carry your luggage.
ATTENTION: We give you 1 porter for 2 clients. 1 porter carries only 20kg in tea house trekking and 30 kg in camping trekking according to syndicate of Nepal porters association.
• All necessary formalities and Trekking permits, peak permits, expedition permits, National park fees, TIMS Card etc according to trip nature.
• All government and local taxes will be paid by our company.

TRIP COST EXCLUDES:
• Nepal visa fee 40 USD for a month. Nepal visa can be obtained at your country in Nepalese consulate office before arrival in Nepal or you can get Nepal visa after arrival in Kathmandu airport.
• International Airfare to and from Kathmandu.
• Excess baggage charges.
• Extra night accommodation in Kathmandu because of early arrival, late departure, early return from mountain (Due to any reason) than the scheduled itinerary.
• Lunch and dinner in Kathmandu (And also in the case of early return from mountain than the scheduled itinerary).
• Travel, Trekking and Helicopter Rescue insurance.
• Personal high altitude medicines, first aid kits, equipments, gears, cloths etc.
• Personal expenses (Phone Calls, Laundry, bar bills during the trekking, Battery recharge of camera or mobile, extra porters if you wish to take, mineral water, Shower etc).
• Tips for Guides and Porters according to custom of trekking in Nepal since long though this is not obligation if your trip is not satisfied with our staffs.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE:
For the camping trekking, you should not bring any utensils, mattress, tents, ropes, pillow, toilet papers etc from your country. We will be provided these all by our trekking company. But you should bring your personal: medicines for high altitude, first aid kits, equipments, sleeping bags, gears and cloths as we suggested in our website.
