Langtang Region
Langtang area is popular for trekking in northern Nepal to the Tibetan border.
The territory of this region is bounded by two great rivers: the Langtang River in the side of Langtang valley and the Melamchi River in the Helambu side. Therefore, this region is ver famous for Langtang Gsaikunda Helambu Classic trekking.
Besides hiking walk to the Cherkuri peak from the Kyangjingompa, the technical Ganjala pass is very famous for the challenge trekkers though Gosaikunda pass is very easy pass in the region.
The societies are influenced by the philosophies of shamanism, Tibetan Buddhism and Hinduism in the region. Gosaikunda Lake is very popular for Hindu pilgrims as sacred holy lake where will be a big festival of shamanist each year.The majority of ethnic groups are: Tamang, Sherpa, Hyolmo and Brahmins.
Not only spectacular views of Langtang Lerung,Langtang peak, Naya kang peak, Ganjala peak, Langtang glacier but also region has a diverse flora and fauna, local agriculture, monasteries and stupas with colorful sacred buddhist holy flags.
Many varieties of flora and fauna are available in the national park which is conserved by Langtang National Park.
These short and long treks are possible in this region in March,April, May and September,October, Nobember of the year: Langtang valley trek,Gosaikunda Lake trek, Helambu Village trek, Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu classic circuit trek etc. Either trekking can start at Dhunche,Sundarijal or Melamchi by local bus from Kathmandu.
